Wicked Minds - "Witchflower" and Areknames - "Love Hate Round Trip" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These two new albums by the aforementioned italian bands on Black Widow really should get more attention. Wicked Minds move on a clear Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Atomic Rooster or Vanilla Fudge area with tons of keyboards by Paolo Negri. Heavy, emotional, lyrical and overblown, "Witchflower" will for sure please anyone into these 70s behemoths. The "Soldier of Fortune" cover is also very unique and adds lots of new perspectives to this classic anthem. Areknames on the other hand are more into the Van der Graaf Generator progressive rock, with Raw Material and Gnidrolog (they cover "Snails")influences. Not exactly like Gargamel, they try to do something blatantly inspired by the Hammill-ian way of composition, still they claim own territories of progressive emotion. If you are into sophisticated prog rock and endure a possible Nine Days Wonder hint, then "Love Death Round Trip" was made for you...and me. I think many of us in here we regale on such great, modern music, with soul and taste. -Mr.Haze-
